TERM 1 SPORTING SUCCESS | What an extraordinary term of Sporting achievements!

Our CaSSSA Sport teams have truly outdone themselves this Term 1, showcasing dedication, skill, and the Loreto spirit in every game. Among our 14 teams, an impressive 8 have clinched top 2 positions, with special congratulations to our Open A, Open B, Inter B, and Inter D1 teams for their outstanding premiership wins!

Cricket saw a remarkable display of talent with 3 out of our 4 teams finishing in the top 4 positions, a testament to their hard work and perseverance. And lets not forget our Junior B Tennis team, who fought hard throughout the season and emerged victorious with an undefeated record!

In the pool, our Swimmers and Water polo players made quite a splash! At the CaSSSA Swimming carnival, we proudly secured third place overall and second in the percentage trophy, a reflection of the commitment and effort put in by our athletes. Our BWPI Water Polo teams dominated with two premiership wins and an impressive 16 out of 19 teams qualifying for Quarter finals and 6 teams securing top 4 positions.

Adding a new dimension to our sporting repertoire, our Futsal team competed at the Brisbane Metro Schools Titles, finishing as runners-up—a remarkable achievement for Loretos first-ever futsal squad!

But our success doesnt stop there. With 36 students representing the college in district teams, 10 selected for Met East Teams, and 6 earning spots in Queensland teams, our athletes have truly made their mark on the sporting stage. Additionally, 10 students competed at State Sporting events, while 35 showcased their talents at National sporting events for their respective clubs.

This term has been a testament to our Loreto spirit. A sincere thank you to everyone involved, and congratulations to the entire Loreto Sport community for this remarkable achievement!

As we gear up for Term 2, we extend our best wishes to our Water Polo and Netball players competing at State Championships, and our Swimmers at the National Age Championships. Enjoy a well-deserved break, and lets come back refreshed and ready to conquer even greater heights in the upcoming term!

HOLY THURSDAY

Sr Macrina Wiederkehr OSB once poetically described the drama of this night as God in an apron. Imagine you are looking on:

In the upper room the eclectic bunch of disciples gathered around a table – and without warning the One they loved, stood up, moved away from his place and put on an apron! God in an apron. One by one he knelt before them and said: I choose to wash your feet because I love you.

Some were embarrassed, some did not know which way to look, others let their eyes meet his and in the tenderness of the moment, each knew deep within they were valued and loved.

And it wasn’t just a washing and drying of feet – it was an invitation, almost a command, to take the basin, take the towel and wash the feet of others in love and service.

Did you hear the sigh? But Lord, there are so many feet to wash!

Listen carefully and you will hear the compelling response: There are only my feet to wash. What you do for them you do for me. As I have done so you must do. Learn to bow. Learn to kneel. Let your tenderness encircle everyone you meet. Wash their feet - not because you have to, but because you want to.
