It was a beautiful and inspiring morning at the Mother and Daughter Breakfast this morning. Bouquets to all the organisers- a huge effort. Everything went like clockwork. The stories of courage and determination by the Guest Speakers gave food for thought for our young listeners. Determination through adversity. Thank you all.💕🙏👍🏼

The 29th of April is the Feast Day of Sr. Catherine Goddard, whose religious name, ‘Catherine’ was for Catherine of Siena. St. Catherine is the patron saint for protection against fire, illness, the United States, Italy, miscarriages, people ridiculed for their faith, sexual temptation, and nurses.
Mother Catherine was born in Poplar London, near the docks, in 1870. She travelled widely with her father, who was a sea captain. She was educated at Loreto Fermoy and in Nymphenburg, continuing her art studies at the Slade School of Fine Art. Arriving in Sydney in 1896, Catherine opened a studio in Hunter Street where she taught art.
In 1902, at the age of thirty-two, Catherine entered the IBVM at Mary’s Mount, so beginning her outstanding religious and academic life, which had such a strong influence on so many.
She became Mistress of Schools at Mary’s Mount, and Mistress of Art to Senior Classes, English, Christian Doctrine and History. Students travelled from as far as Brisbane to attend her newly formed Culture and Finishing Class, which included art and travel lectures based on her extensive travels in Europe.

The ANZAC memorial this morning was absolutely beautiful. The choir made me cry and the bagpipe and bugle so respectively honoured our fallen, I was just so grateful I was part of the ceremony. Well done Loreto ❤️
